At Southview, we understand how effectively communicating with our patients creates a more convenient and comprehensive visit. Managing this function effectively is vital to ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of results for both patients and their Physicians.
The Manager of Communications will have various responsibilities in the following areas:
Scheduling/Patient Check In/Out
Phone System/Fax Server
Practice Management System & Reporting
EHR & Reporting
These work areas encompass approximately 40 employees. Employees managed include Receptionists, Health Information Management Techs, and Switchboard Operators. Managing duties include, but are not limited to, coordinating employee work schedules and arranging coverage when necessary, monitoring and evaluating workflow and making recommendations as to the most efficient use of time, acting as back up for employees, training employees on new programs and/or insurance changes, monitoring employee performance issues and providing input for evaluation purposes, implement policies and procedures throughout areas of responsibility, compiling personnel hours for payroll processing, participating with Human Resources in recruiting and interviewing candidates for open positions, assisting in evaluating all positions within the department updating job descriptions, evaluating and counseling employees in accordance with job performance and Human Resources/Departmental policies, handling complaints from physicians, staff and patients regarding Communications Department related issues, ordering of supplies as needed, communicating with the Business Office regarding issues as they relate to the Communications Department, attending management meetings, maintaining regular and punctual attendance, maintaining confidentiality of company, patient, and employee related information, and other duties or projects as required by Physicians and/or Administration.
For this position, previous experience managing in a Physician Office setting is strongly preferred. Due to the high volume usage of Electronic Health Records and Electronic Practice Management systems, it is required that candidates have a strong background utilizing these systems effectively. Previous experience setting up and/or training EHR and/or Practice Management Systems is strongly preferred. BS Degree Required.
